Administrative Ethics
Ethical policies, decision making, and organizational structures should be the backbone of the public sector. Ethical leaders, organizations, and practices bolster levels of public trust and provide possibilities for positive societal change. Ethical infrastructures in public and nonprofit organizations are important to not only protect institutions but also the people they serve. Ethical practices can ensure fairness, respect, and equity in all levels of public life. Attached is an audit of the ethical infrastructure of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The second work sample is a narrated presentation highlighting the ethical breakdown in a case of campaign finance fraud. These works were prepared as part of the Spring 2019 Administrative Ethics Course.
Public Service Perspectives
One of the central goals of an MPA curriculum is to provide exposure and insight into the multilayered perspectives of the Public Sector. In its essence, the field of Public Administration is multi-disciplinary. MPA students benefit from this multi-disciplinary approach by developing knowledge and skills associated with many aspects and perspectives of the Public Sector. These skills provide MPA students with the unique ability to assess and respond to the needs of public sector organizations and those they serve in ethical, fair, comprehensive, and openminded ways. Attached are two essays highlighting some of the scope of my public sector understanding as informed by my MPA studies. The essays address the topics of Human Resources Management and the Representative Needs of Minority Communities vis a vis policing and police agencies.
